About Joy

I have a Masters degree in Archives and Records Management from University College London and I work part-time as an Assistant Curator of Special Collections at the University of Kent in Canterbury.

For seven years I was Archivist to the Worshipful Company of Barbers, London. In addition to my archival duties, I assisted with research for members of the Barbers’ Historical Society.

Prior to this I had been Project Archivist with the Mercers’ Company, London, and worked as an Archive Assistant at the Borthwick Institute at the University of York. I have also successfully completed a course in Medieval Latin.

My projects to date include: work with private researchers on the documentation of village histories; the discovery and transcription of English wills from the mid 16th century to the late 17th century; extensive parish record searches; research into, and transcription of, Livery Company records from the early 16th century onwards.
